Last week, the TV and Film Hollywood elite gathered together for the first big awards ceremony of 2013 to pat each other on the back. Gowns, minis, stilettos and suits swamped the red carpet for the serious sport of pouting and posing before the first Golden Globe was handed out. We take a look at the hair trends of the glamorous event…
Up-Do’s Vs Down-Do’s
Long, flowing locks seemed to be the most popular among the ladies, with the side pinned, curled look proving most common with a host of beaming beauties. Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Alba sported the ever popular ombre trend with a sun kissed twist.
Blonde bombshells were a plenty with ‘Homeland’ winner Claire Danes and ‘Les Miserables’ star Amanda Seyfried the best of the bunch.
Sharing the award for most glamorous up-do…. Nominee Amy Adams, super sexy Katharine McPhee and best actress winner Jennifer Lawrence. These ladies nailed the celebrity hair trend with an A* for make up too.
Best Original Song winner Adele and Best Actress winner Julianne Moore went for a more traditional hair style with plenty of volume and lift.
We are not really sure why Megan Fox (global sex bomb) and Isla Fisher (ex-Home & Away actress/serial shopper/other half of Borat) were at the awards ceremony but they both looked quite beautiful and looked distinctly similar…..
The barely-there make up trend was rampant (basically celebs wearing loads of make up to look like they are wearing hardly any at all) with both ‘The Girl’ star Sienna Miller and ‘The Newsroom’s’ Olivia Munn opting for, dare we say, boring and bland hairstyles to complement the au naturale statement.
Two beauties stood out with pretty unique styles. ‘Zero Dark Thirty’s’ Jessica Chastain channelled old Hollywood glam with a delightfully coiffed do and Fashion Police favourite Kelly Osbourne rocked her lavender purple locks with class.
Who Got It Wrong?
The usually perfect Kate Hudson chose a stunning full length gown with intricate bejewelled collar – then went and ruined it by sporting a messy down do. This collar deserved some of the spot light and a sophisticated up do (a la Amy Adams) would have looked much better. Another fashion fail (in our opinion – as this one got mixed reviews) was Mr Seacrest’s better half – Julianne Hough. Fairytale style dress – jaw droppingly gorgeous – paired with a rock chick hair style…..errrr – we no likey. This may have worked at the Grammys but the Globes require a more refined choice.
