This week, London’s O2 Arena played host to the National Television Awards 2013 – one of the few ceremonies that is based purely on viewer votes. A host of soap stars, reality royals, drama divas and documentary dudes attended the bash in the hope of some much needed air time. The mandatory red carpet was flooded with an array of familiar faces – but who won the style war? The hair trend of the night was loose flowing locks, with the majority of those who did attempt a sophisticated up do getting it embarrassingly wrong. Here is our run down of the best and worst….
COULD HAVE BEEN AT THE OSCARS
Holly Willoughby rarely gets it wrong and she did not disappoint for this occasion. The ‘This Morning’ host looked glamorous in a well fitted, elegant black gown, classic make up and her signature ‘not try too hard’ flowing blonde locks. Look out for our Holly Willoughby fashion wig coming very soon!
Sheridan Smith was one of the few who got the up do right. Beautiful dress, beautiful hair, beautiful glowing skin. Mrs Biggs did good.
Laura Whitmore would not have looked out of place on a Hollywood film awards red carpet. Wearing this season’s most fashionable colour and taking inspiration from the likes of A listers Amy Adams and Naomi Watts, her 1920’s style hair design was spot on. Our Laura Whitmore fashion wig will be making it’s debut in March.
Another blonde bombshell making waves on the red carpet was Strictly’s Tess Daly. Her sultry, yet sophisticated, long red gown complemented beautifully by her vintage inspired blonde curls.
Eastenders star Jacqueline Jossa looked like a fairytale princess in her full length gown and the classy swept back hair style was the perfect choice to add a modern twist.
‘I’m A Celebrity’ runner up and ex Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts stole the limelight from her former band mate – Nicole Scherzinger – arriving at the ceremony looking utterly divine in a long white fitted gown, Hollywood glam hair (sported by many a celeb at last week’s Golden Globes) and minimal make up. ‘Dontcha wish your wardrobe was hot like her’s?’
Emmerdale actress Natalie Anderson’s look was a far cry from her character’s usual tacky mini skirts, flower head bands and knee high boots. The pretty brunette looked super sexy in a floor length apple green dress and simple, glossy black hair.
COULD HAVE BEEN AT THE ROTTEN TOMATOES
Even Jennifer Lopez failed to pull off the ‘slit arm’ look, not sure why Sherrie Hewson thought it was a good idea.
Gemma Collins’ bright blue, voluminous dress did nothing to flatter the TOWIE star’s curves and the Dallas style hair looked unsurprisingly tacky.
Two words Marie Osmond – ‘Mutton’ and ‘Lamb’.
Joanna Lumley attended the awards as her alter ego ‘Patsy Stone’.
Corrie star Michelle Collins opted for a strange top and skirt combination that, for the life of us, we cannot fathom.
Helen Flanagan looked twice her age in a patterned frock that would have been better suited to a Loose Woman and the prominent hair bow didn’t help matters.
Samia Ghadie disappointed in a bland get up. The stunning soap star should have gone all out glamour like many of her co-stars. Along with the windswept hair, this was just weird.
Kimberley Walsh donned a bizarre midi dress with extravagant puffy sleeves. The Girl’s Aloud singer, who usually looks delightful, managed to seriously age herself in this nutty outfit – although her hair style was exquisite!
